ATLANTA — The Milwaukee Bucks are coming into the NBA Finals for the primary time since 1974 — they usually gained the general of the sequence with out superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Milwaukee beat the Atlanta Hawks 118-107 in Game 6 on Saturday and 32 issues at the back of Khris Middleton. Jew Holiday added 27 issues, 9 rebounds and 9 assists.
After the general buzzer sounded and the Bucks dressed in caps and T-shirts within the middle of the courtroom declared them Eastern Conference champions, the avid gamers hugged and laughed at every different. The running shoes hugged.

Antetokounmpo, who has been out since injuring his knee in the third quarter of Game 4 when he awkwardly landed after an alley-up fight, was in the middle of it all – a winning fist raised in the air.
Thursday marked the end of a series of Milwaukee playoff runs that were either reduced or fouled. In the 2019 postseason, the Bucks defeated the Detroit Pistons, beat the Boston Celtics in five games and took a 2–0 lead against the Toronto Raptors in the Eastern Conference Finals. Then, after losing only one back-to-back game during the entire regular season, the Bucks lost four straight games to the Raptors and were eliminated.
Last season in the NBA bubble, the Bucks made a disappointing end to the playoffs. Milwaukee earned the No. 1 seed and defeated the Orlando Magic in five games. But Antetokounmpo sprained his ankle in Game 3 of the team’s series against the Miami Heat.
He tried it in Game 4, but sprained his ankle again in that game and was unable to play in Game 5 when Milwaukee finished. Subsequently, Antetokounmpo said that “nobody was once going to be at liberty” with the result of Milwaukee’s 2019–20 playoff run. He said he hopes the Bucks can learn from that defeat.
It appears that he did — and those losses, Middleton said, greatly outperformed his success this season.
“It’s been an extended adventure,” Middleton said. “But it is been an excellent adventure. It’s been value it. After profitable 15 video games in our first 12 months and 7 years now not making the playoffs, spending the final two years pondering we had an opportunity and simply sufficient Didn’t and now we are right here. That’s what we labored for.”
The Bucks avenged last season’s loss and rolled the Heat in four games in the first round. In the middle of that series, guard Donat DiVincenzo injured his ankle. He had season-ending surgery on a ligament in his left ankle in June, and PJ Tucker moved into an opening role.
Still, Milwaukee kept rolling. After falling 3-2 in a wild series against betting title favorites Brooklyn Nets, the Bucks defeated them in a seven-game series. And after losing at home for the first time in the playoffs in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals, the Bucks made a comeback, winning two games without Antetokounmpo.
Bucks coach Mike Budenholzer said it was “a curler coaster of feelings, particularly this sequence.” “Just inspired by way of the crowd’s flexibility, the crowd’s personality.”
In Game 6, the Bucks jumped out to lead 15–4, before the Hawks roared back to make it a one-possession game. The Bucks weathered that storm as well, once again pushing their advantage to 10. The Bucks’ double-digit yo-yo scores lead to a one-bucket advantage, but Milwaukee has never been far behind.
When the Hawks came closer, Milwaukee had the answers. Middleton scored 16 straight third quarter points to extend the Bucks’ profit on his way to 23 points in the third quarter. According to ESPN Stats and Information Research, it was the third 20-point third quarter of his playoff career. No Bucks player has done this once in the last 25 seasons.
Atlanta continued to retreat, reducing the Bucks’ 22-point lead to six once in the fourth quarter. But ultimately, it proved to be an insurmountable obstacle for the Hawks.
“He’s the kind of participant who, once more, places the load on his shoulders and does not care,” Holiday said of Middleton after the game. “Chris is the center of this staff. I feel Giannis is the soul of this staff, and with out him, we in reality would not be right here.”

The whole time, Antetokounmpo stood — almost never seated — in black shorts and a Bucks warm-up shirt. A protective sleeve covered his left knee. But despite being injured and unable to play, Antetokounmpo was in the middle of the festivities. His longest hug was reserved for his brother and teammate Thanasis.
“There is a bitterness to him now not having the ability to play those final two video games,” said Budenholzer. “Khris and Giannis are the key to this team, to this organization. To have the opportunity to train them and come here three years ago and try to make something special, those two people are special, and it starts with them “
And whilst there was no public resolution on whether or not Antetokounmpo might be to be had to play in Game 1 of the NBA Finals, something is sure: The Bucks take a seat atop a hill that Antetokounmpo has envisioned to summit for years.
Now, they’ve only one extra leg to perform.
“We haven’t done anything yet,” Tucker stated.
